About two years ago, I signed up for Medium and wanted to start writing on their publications. I’m not sure what happened that I quit writing on Medium. I guess it was too demanding at the time and I couldn’t focus clearly on the goals at hand, which was writing on publications, but I digress.
I realized I could still do that. One day. Eventually. I just wanted to find a place to grow an audience and write about things that I enjoy. I know, I know. Medium is famous for its Technology and Design platforms but it also has opportunities for writers, creatives, and self-help bloggers who like to share their expertise with the world.
I recently learned about tags and becoming a top writer. These are also great ways of getting noticed on Medium. Basically, you can publish stories to one of the more popular tags like in photography, life lessons, or travel, for example, two or three times a week and eventually get noticed as a top writer. More people will notice your work, clap for your work, and you will eventually build an audience. Sounds like a good idea to me.
I just sometimes get stumped at writer’s block and can’t think of meaningful topics to write about. There are so many great writers already on Medium writing about such creative things, I don’t know how to keep up.
I suppose I could keep reading and finding other great writers on substack and Medium to inspire my creativity. I recently found one great writer, JJ Pryor on Substack who is a top writer on Medium. His work is so funny, I think he deserves to be mentioned. He honestly had me laughing so hard I thought my lungs would burst…
There’s one thing I like about Substack and Medium in comparison to WordPress, Blogger, or any other writing platform. It is so hard to find other writers on the internet who likes to write about similar things you do and are actually good at it. I’ve probably subscribed to ten publications on substack in hopes of finding inspiration for my writing and some of them are actually pretty good. But I’m wary because I know not everyone likes getting emails sent to their inbox. I have to be thankful to those who actually read my articles because who’s really got the time to sit here and read everything that gets sent to your email— not me!
So here’s to my writing journey and publishing on Medium! I hope to continue to write meaningful things on here like news about my photography, travel, wellness, and faith. Medium for me is like an extension of that but more focused, I guess you can say. I’m still in the thought process of mining out stories that I want to write on Medium and on here. You can help me with any ideas by emailing them to me on here.
I leave you with a link to my Medium profile here. Thanks again for reading. I really appreciate you. I know not everyone’s got the time, haha.
Much love,
